Never doubt Iceshanty HT ice Blues Rods.
« on: Dec 28, 2017, 10:18 AM »
Hello guys and gals,
In reviews of ice rods I have found many liking the HT Ice Blues rods. I saw them for 9 bucks thought can't be that great. I now have 4 of them I may give up spring bobbers all together. They are so sensitive they make my St Croix rods look like pool ques. If you break one you wont cry to much they sure work good. I take off the reel seats and use tape. Only down side no lure holder I just bend a paper clip and tape it to the handle works great.
Very sensitive I always feel my lure or nibble. Again I will never doubt the people on this sight.

I bought 2 of the Medium Ugly Stik rods for my Jaw Jackers. They are so sensitive I like just jigging them. I can fell and see the lightest bites.

I agree with you Pal, they're just as good or even better than some of the big name expensive rods.

if you can find a well made one the ht polar lites are even more sensitive. love the little things. I say well made because this years version is a little sloppy, unaligned and whatnot.

About to pick one up for panfish...crappie, blue gills, perch and some stocked  trout. Any recommendations on the length and should it be UL? I saw a 30" on Franks but didnt say what power it was.

Yep.....a lot of rod snobs against the HT Ice blues.......I love them. Just a tip but for blue gills in 15 ft or less put a No. 8 code blue reel on it....

Did you get the regular one with the Eva foam handle or did you get the pro version with the cork handle and Eva foam caps? if you want a lure keeper just put one of the lindy rubber ones on it.

Everyone should have at least one. Any time a newbie starts out they use the blue rods... Bang for the buck you can't go wrong.

The other Rod similar......maybe a touch better is the schooley Artic Blue Ice Rod. Very similar to the HT Ice Blues......however I think they are a touch more durable.

The blue HT rods are a great bargain for the price. No tears if you break one.
