storing the eskimo propane auger?
« on: Aug 08, 2017, 06:30 PM »
the sticker on the power head says this end up with an arrow. that would be the piston end. the owners manual seems to show the same but also says for long term storage storing the powerhead vertically is fine. I take it vertically is the same position that the auger would be used in. or am I wrong?

I called eskimo and the guy on the other end didn't seem to know much but he did say long term to do as the sticker on the unit says, and short term any position is fine. a 12 hour day out fishing is considered short term.

You're right, vertical is the position you'd have it in to drill holes.

Storing as the sticker says is best, but in the "drilling" position is OK too.  The reason for storing it a certain way is that it is a 4-stroke engine with oil in it.  If stored incorrectly, oil eventually seeps past the piston rings into the combustion chamber and can cause problems.  There is also a very small amount of oil in your propane. So to avoid oil residue from the hose possibly accumulating in the carb, store it as the sticker says.
