I had a goal of catching my first laker this season and accomplished that. A big thank you to JMailbox8 for helping with that one. I got into some smelt which I hadn't attempted before this season and did really well on trout, both in VT and over in NH. Hoping to make it out again around here but I hear the fat lady singing....what was the most memorable catch for the rest of you folks this season??
Hey man, congrats on the laker!
I also got into a lot of really nice smelt for the first time.  I just wish I didn't have to drive so far to get them.

My favorite catch was these two big crappies.  I had been looking for them on that particular lake for a while.  I'd found them spawning in the spring, but couldn't find them any other time of year.   When I finally did get them, they were exactly where I imagined they would be!  A guy had his tipups in the spot I wanted to fish, but he packed up before sunset.  I moved in and caught them both after dark.  Very satisfying.

Ooooh thats a nice pair of slabs! Well done. I stumbled onto some big crappies on a local NH lake in January. Got my hopes up and despite turning that area into swiss cheese, I couldn't get on 'em again..... so thats another goal for next season.

Haha, I made quite a bit of swiss cheese, myself!  I drained the battery on my Ion auger more than once before I figured out how to be more strategic.  I started the season drilling holes before dawn, but I gave up on that, as I hardly caught any fish that way.  I think I might have caught a couple crappies during daylight, but I really got into them after sunset this winter!

The best "catch" of my season was fishing with my 8-year-old twins and making great memories.

The best catches of their season were a 28" laker, several perch over 12" and lots of snacks.

No master angler fish this year, but it aint over just yet.  Gonna try this weekend if I can find some safe ice.

Best this year was a 35" 10.5 lb pike.

However, I did manage to get:

5 pike over 8lbs
4 pike over 9lbs

as well as many in the 5-8lb range.

Unfortunately I have not been able to fish my "go to spots" due to having unsafe ice all season.

Be safe out there for those that may still be venturing out !!

The closest flag up may be the one that is behind you !

Best catch of the season for me, wasn't even caught by me.

My 13yr old had a friend over on Friday night.  I kept telling them they should go to bed early if they wanted to fish in the morning.  They didn't listen and stayed up way too late.  We hit the ice, and as my 13yr old fell asleep laying in the sun on the ice, my 6yr old pulled up his first brown of the season, on his big brothers tipup.

My best catch is going to be a grandfather in Sept for the first time.
A new fishing buddy for sure.
