the old green Lo K Tor used 2 6 volt batteries that laid on a plate to = 12 volt system so if it looks like that just snip the 2 main wires and add a 12 volt flasher battery. The still old lo k tors that were brown may have the plate or just 2 wires. These machines are ok for marking bottom and fish. They most likely will have trouble marking a ice jig. If you jump to a Lowrance 2000 series you would be better off as these will mark bottom, fish and jig.

I would just ditch the plate for the 2 six volt batteries (expensive and they don't last or like the cold) snip the wires where they meet the plate.

Way back when modified a many of these for ice fishing. Advice about eliminating the dry cell batteries is right on. The dry cells run out of juice in very short order when used in cold weather. Humminbird Super 30 was a good model to convert also.

For sure something that is designed for ice fishing is far better. But when money is short these units ( old flashers ) could be had for as little as 5 dollars. For about 25 total investment figuring @ 20.00 for a modern 12 v battery. gave you a workable unit that was at least better than fishing blind and still does.
