first, second and third bass.
« on: Feb 03, 2017, 02:55 PM »
went to a local 6 trap lake for a change of pace, went there looking for bass, i brought my 6 yo son with me, he's caught some yellow perch before but nothing bigger, we got there set out three jaw jackers and i had my jig rod, the first jacker went off after about 20min went over lifted the rod out and handed it to my son, he started reeling it and it started to scream out the drag, he had all he could do to turn the crank on the reel, he finally got it to the ice and i lifted it out, it was a very nice 4 or so lb largemouth we took some pictures and let it go, next one goes off, he goes over and lands a nice smallie, same thing pictures and release, third one goes off and almost a repeat of the second another beautiful smallie.  I managed to catch a couple solid smallmouths on my jig rod. It was an action packed morning, my son had a blast and that's what it's all about.

That is awesome! Great job out there teaching the youth what we have learned. There is nothing I love seeing more than watching the youth getting into the same passions that my dad taught me.

Pretty bronzebacks you got there and a toad largemouth to boot. Nice work

I can't say which I enjoy more...the sight of a good bucket-mouth coming through the hole or the bend a gig old smallie will put into the stoutest of rods?

I know what you mean, fortunately all were caught on jaw jackers so we fought all on jig rods, they're a nice option to fishing for big trout
