Sunday smart move.

Sunday we went north ish as usual. Tried a another shallow new pond due to the thaw last week. Our closest pond is connected to a river was no go. 2 nd pond was safeish for the first 100'. After that it was very shakey. Tried it for an hour, jigged a couple tiny perch. Headed further north at 9:30. Found 6" of good ice. Jigged 19 calicoes, rainbow on the tilt. Left at 4 pm . Fog and rain eating away at the ice most of the day. Anybody go way west ? We need a real winter,, to crazy. FF

Nicely done getting out there. Glad to hear the third spot paid off!

I'm planning on heading to either NH or Maine for a few weekends in February. Trying to be optimistic but it's getting hard now.

We got some ice up here.  I'm three hours north of Scituate and was standing on 18" of ice yesterday.   ;D
Near me a foot of ice is typical right now

Who's planning to be out next weekend? I would imagine most of the ice within a couple hours from here will be pretty damn soft and rotten, if it is there at all.

I fished North of Rutland yesterday on 10" of soft crap ice. Doubt it will be any good this coming weekend. Might have to head West on the pike to exit 2.

Thanks, I crave jigging...If I could, I would go to Maine this weekend, how nice would that be ! 50s and inches of rain, not a good combo here..Plans for this weekend are on hold for now. FF

As a transplant to Maine (16 years ago) I would never be allowed to do that, not the whole RI Board anyway, ask RIMainah, he would know.  But if you look at the Maine.gov site and look into the free fishing days you might find one coming up real soon  ;)
Unfortunately it conflicts with Brady taking it to Atlanta  ;D
I am heading a few hours north of where I am in Maine chasing salmon and brown trout this weekend.
