Clam drill plate
« on: Jan 17, 2017, 08:31 PM »
I've made up my mind to try one since I already have one of the cordless drills that are reccomended. Does anyone know the best place online to buy them? Cabelas is about the only place I could find em.
Thanks
Casey

Without a doubt whatsoever, you won't regret getting one.  I got one last year and absolutely love it.  I can attest that it certainly helps my searching techniques and covering more area than ever before.... even with a Nils 6" Orange Hand Auger.

Thanks Tom, it looks like I might've got the last one they had. I.B.J, this year were finally getting done thick ice everywhere so it doesn't take long to get tuckered with a dull hand auger. I have new blades coming for my hand auger for a backup but still looking forward to just hitting a lever to make a hole.

Try watching icefishingdeals.com  I seen they had them on sale for $39.95 and missed it.  I have a question about the auger, I fish with a 10" strikemaster lazer mag, can I use it with the clam drill plate?

Make sure your drill is 700 in/lbs or better plus batteries are 4ah or better ...hard to find the Clam Plates this time of year even harder to find a deal . The Clam plate was designed for a 6" auger or less . Mora style blades tend to be better as they don't get hung up on the bottom of the hole like Lazer blades do.

The 10" model is for a gas head.  No way I would attempt to spin that with a drill - unless possibly with the clam gear box if they ever release a version that works.  Even then you wouldn't get many holes per battery.  Its 4X the work of a 5" hole.

clam was 2:1.
this is 2.5:1 so stronger than clam gear case.
