Good, Cheap Panfish (Crappie, bluegill, perch) rod
« on: Jan 02, 2017, 08:38 PM »
I've owned a Frabill 27" quick tip rod for a few years now and never used it until this year as it had a reel on it that I didn't like.  I swapped out the reel and this has become one of my new favorite rods.  Really soft tip to see finicky biters and some good backbone to be able to set the hook and fight the fish.  I used this rod over the weekend and we were getting 11-15 inch crappies with bluegills mixed in and it was the perfect rod.  Very similar to the Snitch rod but not quite as stiff in the backbone and less expensive.  You can find these rods for $20-$25 and they are fantastic.

They also make this rod in a 30" length but I don't have any experience with that version.

I agree 100%.  I picked one up as a combo and swapped the in-line reel out onto a UL rod I had and put a spinnign reel on it.  Would like to pick up another rod but can only seem to find the combos.  Mind sharing where you're locating the rods at that price point?  :)

I have a HT ice blues 48" Ultra light. I never liked it until I trimmed the tip back to the first guide and reglued the tip. Stiffened it up just enough to help with hook set but still super sensitive.
