How was your first day?
« on: Dec 20, 2016, 06:42 PM »
I ended up with a few bass, the biggest being 15.5" and a hand full of nice bluegill. Put 8 of them on the table for dinner.
How is everyone else doing on their first outing?
Let's see some photos!

5"-7" depending where on the pond we were. We fished 2 separate ponds.

Bummer @hunt4fish, keep trying (if you still have safe ice) You'll be on the bite soon enough!

hit backwaters last weekend and was rewarded handsomely

Just a small selection of the nice fish I caught

It was by far the most aggressive crappie bite I had ever been on - they were flying through the flats! Nothing beats catching nice fish on your own custom rods :)

How is that possible? I swear you can catch fish there on popsicle sticks. Fished it once (the same day you were there evidently) and thats enough for me this season... probably 100 gills and 50 crappies, nothing over 8". That was on plastics, id hate to try bait there!

Wasnt the first trip, but the first "serious trip". Some nice gills between 8-9", couple small 9" perch and a couple small 10" crappies. The big crappie was just under 14". Public water.
