Rain
« on: Dec 17, 2016, 08:15 AM »
Any one thinking of toughing it out in the rain tomorrow? Ill probably be bringing the shack and trying to keep dry. Ive been planning this first ice trip for too long to let some rain hold me back.

Ill be spending most of my time in the pop up as well. Ive never used it in the rain but I'm assuming its water proof

I have 2 person Clam with sled combo that works well and doesn't seem to get wet inside when it rains... so I would also assume most are waterproof material. Best of luck! I wish I could go out but unfortunately my jiffy gas auger has been acting up a lot lately and doesn't seem to stay running. I'm highly considering buying an Ion X after the holidays...

??? ::)  With 7 inches of fluffy new snow up here I'm  kind of hoping for rain tomorrow!   Maybe it will soak the snow and freeze up when it drops to zero tomorrow night??

I agree with flags. Some of my best days out have been sitting on a bucket getting beat up by the elements. Never seem to notice the rain/sleet/wind much when you're hammerin' 'Em... I'll be out tomorrow. Cheers

I agree with Dick, 40 + degrees and a bit of rain will settle down this fluff and help the ice form better.

Im afraid the rain will add too much weight to the snow we got and push the water up. We had wet spots that grew bigtime within hours of being out there today. I agree though if it hardened up, it would be easier getting around and pulling the sled

I added skis to my sled today so it should pull a lot easier at least I hope a 1/2 mile hike up hill to my pond will test it for sure
Wait there's ice????
