Fingerless Gloves
« on: Dec 03, 2016, 06:00 PM »
I know this topic has been discussed ad nauseam, but I wanted to share a cheap fingerless glove idea. I just went the to the Dollar Store and bought two pairs of fleece gloves. I cut off the fingers and now have a warm and functional pair of fishing gloves. I've bought more expensive fingerless gloves in the past, but haven't been satisfied with how warm they were. I'm thinking that this new pair should do the trick!

I wear finger less Wool Gloves with Liners. Olympic Glove liners. They are white with metal flakes in them. Made for Bikers. The Liners don't look like much but are the warmest liners I have found. Go to Olympic Gloves and search for liners. the C8 liner is the one I use.

Been doing the Dollar Store gloves for several seasons now ...cut off the thumb, index and middle fingers...been through several washings to boot ..take several pairs in case they get wet or iced up .

After trying many different styles and the materials, the one that has worked the best for me is Windstopper Polar Fleece. Light weight with the great ability of retaining heat even wet (like wool, without the down sides), washable, VERY durable and best of all windproof! I have one pair from Orvis that are 16 hard used years old (sadly they are starting to get a little thinner). I have had the ones with neoprene palms and found them not as warm. If you want warm, make sure it is a wind blocking/stopping fabric, it make a huge difference...

My favorites. Keep me warm, even when wet. Slip into my mittens when I have them on.

Seen them, they are nice, but not wind proof...
