I had an Elite-5 ice machine, worked well, loved the fact that I could go from having it hooked up on my ATV for GPS Mapping, then undock it from the handlebars and plug it right into the icepack for fishing...

I got one earlier this year with an Ice fishing bag. I ran it in the boat and it works well. Put it in the bag and played with it easy to use. First thing to do when you get it is read the manual .

I believe this is based on the Elite-5 which I have used the last 4 or 5 years.  Go to youtube and search Lowrance Elite-5 Ice Machine to get a very good idea of what the unit is like.  I LOVE the Graph and NO WAY will I use a Flasher.  3 cents :)

These units really shine when you use them year round, on the boat, and on the ice. GPS is a must feature.  ;)

OK, I decided to bite the bullet and just got the Ice 5. So far I'm impressed just reading the manual,  it in the process of putting it together, I noticed 4 wires attached to the power cord that have beened stripped with bare wire exposed. Can anyone tell me what they are for, and what I should do with them in ice fishing mode????

I would definitely recommend using the amplitude scope, it's an awesome feature.

The 4 wires are for NMEA 0183 data and can be disregarded for ice fishing i tape them.
