Sale alert Elite 4 Ice and question too
« on: Nov 11, 2016, 04:46 PM »
Hodges Marine has the Lowrance Elite 4 Ice for $205.57 with free shipping. I just received it today. Putting it together, got a bit confused on the rubber cord Lowrance supplied to support the transducer. Would seem that this would not allow the transducer to hang level. The float and stopper go on this cord, not the transducer cord. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Bill

You should add your location to your profile

I believe the "Ice Ducer Float" is  proprietary to Vexilar ...you may just be able to use the float in a similar manner as Vexilar.

Don't worry if it's not perfect.  Gravity will make sure that the transducer hangs correctly.

That's a great deal as the ice pack alone is $120

I used that setup for ice fishing for many years, I also had a RAM mount on my ATV handlebars that is specific to the Elite quick connect mount, so I can use the Elite-4 for GPS mapping fishing spots.  I have an Elite power cord I'm looking to sell for it, this allows you to quickly remove it from your ATV or Snowmobile and snap it into your ice pack. $25 shipped, has soldered connections and an in-line fuse.  Send me a message if interested.

The cord you speak of is not needed in my opinion. You can make your own float out of some pipe insulation or pool noodle if your Lowrance didn't come with one.

Thanks for the replies. I understand the transducer will level out, but that would only be if hung from its' own cord. Lowrance supplied a split foam tube with stopper, but recommends using the additional rubber cord installed through a hole that is near the top of the transducer.  Looks like a nice unit with GPS and some kind of lake maps software installed. Still waiting for the initial battery charge to be done before trying it out, learning the menu and such.

The base installed maps are very limited, i picked up a Lake Insight micro SD card for cheap, much better detail.

I have one and got rid of the extra cord. It was a pain in the butt in my opinion. Nice units once you get them dialed in
