Oh if the one in the picture was coming after you you'd set a world speed record for running.  LOL

OMG! I was a sprinter/hurdler in college, but something tells me I wouldn't need to be to outrun her!  ;D

I'm so dissapointed in this season.  I spent a bunch of money on "stuff" and only got to fish two weekends.   :(

Don't worry man, you can buy more gear all summer, and dream of how you'll use it next season.

Was on the Ice today with this Blue jay day the shore line took a big hit...fish on the ice  started to imprint in the ice  ...auger. And spud bar was doing the same...I think tomorrow may be it for me....it won't  be long. Before the boat will be on the water...what are you going to do can't control the weather....
Bad ice is bad for your health....walk with care....

I checked two lakes here in the Northeast today, both look good but the trick is going to be getting on.  The one place it won't be a problem, just need to take a bigger step the other one is going to be close since there's two inches of ice but the good thing is it's going down to the single digits tonight and going to be in the high twenties tomorrow so it'll be making ice.

Same here, Im in NEPA and with all that rain yesterday and today and these warm temps, no chance I am heading out again for this season !. The fat lady sang to me last night, as I laid there and sobbed myself to sleep.

Going down to 19* tonight and 15* tomorrow night, don't you think the water on the ice is going to lock back up.

These big temperature variations is what creates honey comb ice which has no strength.  It is going to take more than a day or two to make enough ice to be safe.

no man,  the ice (or what's left of it) is not safe anymore. It's time to suck it up and start thinking open water, El-Nino won this year. I think I'll take a ride to the Delaware this weekend ;). The ice season is over for me. See you guys next fall. Sing fat lady, sing.

Yeah, the ice really took a hit the last 3 days! I was holding out hope, but after seeing what was left of the ice(not much) last night, I took all my gear out of the vehicle and put it back in the garage for the season!  :'(

Spider- I may be able to go (Delaware open water) tomorrow after all. Will text ya if I can.

I took about a 15 year layoff from ice fishing and just got back into it last season.  What gear I had left was fairly antiquated, so I wanted to update/upgrade my gear pretty quickly.  Shanty last year, auger, flasher, rods, reels, etc. this year.  A pretty good chunk of change all tolled, so yeah, a real bummer, but...I'm looking forward to open water now.  I live on the lake that I fish, so I generally don't do any travelling to fish.  That's the main reason my fishing was limited to two weekends.  The lake runs north-south and has no cover from the sun, so the ice leaves fast when temps warm and the sun get higher in the sky...  The short season this year is going to make me even more excited about getting out next season, hopefully WITHOUT El Nino!  lol

As much as I hate to say it and don't want to believe it it looks like the season is done.  I might be crazy but I'm still hoping for a major polar vortex to hit us in March.

doesn't matter if a polar vortex did swoop in. The sun is getting too strong at this time of the year. Any ice we get won't last and it wouldn't be very strong if it did. I don't need to ice fish enough to go swimming in that stuff right now. No, I got other plans. Gonna make the Delaware my home this year  ;)
