I plan on ice fishing this lake in the very near future.

I have never ice fished it, but a couple of years ago I fished from a friend's dock one day and caught 6 different species of fish:

perch
slab crappie
sunfish
catfish
smallmouth
rainbow trout

There are good fish in this lake and it gets very little if any pressure.

I suggest mid-week - I think the tourista sledders rip up the surface of that lake on weekends.

p.s. - I'd love to get on Big Boulder lake which is less than 1 mile away - that place holds hawgs !!!

Most of the property owners probably have no clue there is even any fish in the lake because its only there for jet sking (I believe its unlimited HP but can't remember for sure) in the summer and snowmobiling in the winter  ::) ::)   Its your typical gated community lake in the Poconos, few hundred property owners of which maybe a dozen fish

My friend no longer lives there, so I lost my parking spot in his driveway.

My plan of attack is to have a beer at the Harmony Lodge, leave my car in their parking lot, and pull the sled out onto the lake. The bar is right next to the lake edge.

some private lakes like locust lakes  and arrowhead lakes and many more pocono lakes ive fished off of rt#940 require you to have a beach tag to gain access to there lakes given to you by a home owner in the community. check before you head out on lake harmony you could end up with a fine!
There's nothing better in life then being outside on a cold winter day hanging around with a bunch of icehole's

I'll just tell them that I am DEA and I am dropping the sonar device down the hole to check for the remaining sealed containers of cocaine that were sunk there by the owners of Nick's Ice House years ago - before they went away to Club Fed....  ;D

I've fished 3 private lakes so far this year - no tag, no problem whatsoever.
I stay clear of the ones with the guard shacks.

Lake Harmony is not a gated community with Neighborhood Nazi BusyBodies staring out their windows with binoculars..

no worries on my end..

Actually not sure when I will get there. This weekend not looking good with another snow storm coming. I am not sure how thick the ice is. etc. etc. Sometime soon I will have to ride up & check it out. There is always first ice next year.

based on the ice thickness of nearby lakes - Lake harmony ice will be about 11inches thick- with 8 in of solid black ice.
There are no dock bubblers, no big springs to affect the ice in that lake.

I can assure you that it is locked up solid.

I will be on it within 2 weeks. Let me know if you plan a trip up - perhaps we can share the ice together.

p.s. if you can get away on a weekday do it. Otherwise, you will be dodging high speed snowmobilers on the weekends.

I have not fished it in a year or so but the last time I ice fished it I can recall lots of people on the ice (like 15 - 20 guys). It's known for the big perch and nice crappies and as far I as know it's totally private. I know several people that live there but I choose to fish elsewhere but there is plenty of fish in it.

Wish me luck boys..

I am heading over to Lake Harmony with waxies and minnows and plan on seeking/destroying part of the crappie/perch population.

Behind Enemy lines ;D

No white camo needed, I will just use a Joisey accent and exude a Bad Attitude to fit in... ;D ;D

Anyone ice fish this lake?  I'm not from the area but will be staying at a rental cabin nearby and was looking to get some lines in the water.

Thanks

I rented a cabin on Lake Harmony a couple of years ago and fished it for two days in late February or early March.  The lake is private so that was the only time I ever fished it.  We did have beach badges and the info left by the owner advised us to keep the badges in possession in case we were stopped.  I don't remember the particulars of the locations I fished but I recall that we parked in a small lot with a tiny boat ramp and walked across to the other side of the lake to fish - maybe 200 yards or so.  Water depth was 10-15 feet.  We caught a ton of perch up to 12" and put a few gills on the ice plus a handful of decent largemouth as well.  I heard reports of catfish, pickerel and walleye but never caught any while we were there.  We fished shiners on tip ups and jigged with wax worms.  The fishing was steady both days.  We didn't exactly kill them but we didn't go very long between bites either.

A few things I remember from that trip:

1.  The temps had been warming over the last couple of weeks but the ice was 16" thick.

2.  We watched a herd of about 12 deer run across the lake the first afternoon.

3.  I replaced one of the shiners on my tip ups with a dink perch I jigged up and let it dangle a couple of feet off the bottom in about 15 FOW.  About and hour later the flag popped but when I got to the tip up, the reel was absolutely still.  A couple of feet of line had run off so I watched the reel for 30 seconds or so and nothing happened.  I assumed that the perch had gotten excited and tripped the flag.  I reached down into the water and pulled the line to re-set it and felt some serious weight.  Whatever was on the other end came up off the bottom a few feet and then snapped the line.  Not sure what it was - big cat, walleye or some pig bass perhaps.   After that, I went to heavier leaders but did not get another bite on any of the other perch I set on the tip ups.

During the time I was there, I saw maybe four other people fishing the lake.  Everyone seemed to be catching fish so I think you should do just fine.  Good luck and let us know how you make out.

I live close to the lake, no good ice. Maybe after this week. I think it's a association tag you need.
