Marcum VX1 Pro

 I bought a used Marcum unit.  It's my first unit, so I'm not entirely sure how to use it.  How do you sent the gain and range?  There are buttons between the knobs, what are those for?  What settings work best under what conditions?

Love my VX-1P, I ve had it around 4 yrs now, and like it better than my Showdown.  ;D
