Cant catch fish on "Nice" Days?

Is it just me or does my shanty have to be blowing over and flags checking the wind direction while freezing my fingers to the metal hardware on the tip ups to be able to have a great day on the ice. Been out plenty of "nice weather days only to find myself admiring the weather and nothing in the holes??? .  I'm sure Science has its reasons..... but thoughts>?

We need to trade info cause the days you describe as good are always the worse for me,I always ask myself on the ride home why i just stood out in 20mph winds snowing etc etc.. Dont get me wrong i do catch fish on those days from time to time, but clear blue skies and dead calm have always been the best days for me..

The way I look at it, it does not matter whether you catch fish or not, it matters that you are out enjoying the ice and not stuck indoors working.

I never do well on Clear skies and sunny days.. I Nap that is what i do on nice weather days.

My ice fishing buddy and I have had this discussion numerous times.  When it nasty out we usually have the best luck at catching fish but when the sun is out and its calm the days are usually spent hunting for them. Then the conversation gets into Barometric pressure and we over analyze everything.

Of course on the nice days we usually bring the kids out with us, so we blame the poor fishing on the restless kids.

I look at it this way. . . .

Let's say you have anywhere from 10-15 factors that could influence a day of fishing, including things you can control and things you can't. Each day, for one reason or the other, those factors get all shook up and assembled in an order of most important to least important/doesn't matter....and what you're left with is the day you decide to go fishing.

How well you do that day is a result of how you can read and interpret what is going on during your time out on the ice, and adjust accordingly to whatever "order" all of those factors assembled in. Is it the bait? Depth? Line diameter? Wind direction? Using a gold bead aboce your bait? Some days it is easier than others...."Man we're hammering them today....they'll take anythng!"....or "Jeez, it seems like we have tried everything and only (x) is working." 

Bottom line....make adjustments.

I seem to do better on nicr days but the key is to be there before first light and after last light. Many days I already put in a good days catch by the time other guys are just showing up at 8 or 9am

Good weather or bad just have to trick them into hitting.and its much better than working I agree with that one

Did pretty good on Monday and it was 30* and cloudy with very little wind....
We thought it was a nice day...

You just never know when the bite is going to fire up its like hunting gotta be in the woods to get the buck rain or shine hes there
