Lake Lonely Parking
« on: Jan 26, 2016, 12:23 PM »
How challenging is it to find the trail of Union Ave to get to Lake Lonely? I have never been and would likely get there before dawn. Does anyone have any tips on locating the path, seeings how there won't be footprints to follow?

There is a couple different in-flowing creeks and such, I would never go to a new lake in the dark.

As for the trail, there is a designated park area that it starts at, but everyone just parks on 9p and cuts through the woods.   Look for footprints.   Still a pretty good hike from there just to get to the water.

And if you go, pick up any trash you see.  I understand there are some "Litter leads to Posting" signs there now.

Solid advice on the trash pickup.  That whole trail and access has been beat for a few years now that it got popular.    Shame too, used to be much better fishing.

Thanks Bigredonice, I was only familiar with the creek that heads into the course.

Eaglecrg, I do what I can with trash regardless of what am I am or where I am.

Garufi518, no pike in that lake, I am going just for the articles....

this lake is connected to Saratoga Lake via the Kaydeross Creek, so yes it is possible for walleye to be in the lake. But, I don't think I've heard of any being caught in Loney.

Yes, the "clean up after yourself" signs are up. Certainly no need to litter any place. Not much snow on the trail to drag the gear on!

I caught a walleye in lonely a few years ago. The thing was real long but the skinniest walleye I've ever seen in my life.
