Harbor Freight Underwater Camera Questions
« on: Mar 16, 2016, 11:31 AM »
I tried posting this in the "fishing with electronics" forum, but didn't get any feedback. I know you all can help me out.... I just bought a used model #91309 ($20) and it is missing the ballast under the camera and also the LED lights are no longer attached, but included... if that makes sense.  :-\  I'm guessing the ballast is only used for weight to keep the camera in the proper vertical position so you aren't viewing a slightly titled image. Is that true? I'm also thinking I can solder the LED light ring back onto the camera but we'll see how that works out. If anyone has any experience in these areas and can offer any tips, I'd be mighty thankful.

Haha No kidding! Thanks for the reply Spitzo, I was beginning to wonder...

Yeah, we still have some good ice. I'm diggin' it.  @)

I did find out the ballast is used to tilt the camera slightly upward or downward. A person can just slide that ballast front to back and make an adjustment. So I'm pretty sure I can fabricate (one of my favorite words because it has so many meanings! ;D) something for that. It'll just be neat to watch what's going on down there, can't wait.

Happy St. Patty's Day everyone, hope you all get lucky tonight!!

If you're into trout then the seasons somewhat there.  I've been on the softwater for nearly a month & enjoying the hell out of it.  Walleye certainly eclipse greasy trout.  Stay safe & enjoy whatever you pursue but most of us have made the transition.

If you're into torturing fish, a.k.a. catch and release  ;) which I am, then its really hard to argue reeling in an old boot walleye vs. a greasy trout. That must not be what you're saying.... My lake has ice,... that's what I'm doing, icefishing,... When the ice leaves I'll transition too. April ice off is just fine with me I've got some other seasons that keep me busy as well. I don't need any fish for the table at this point in the season, the bows are spawning or getting close anyway. But yeah if you need some to feed your belly go get those eyes. I'd have to travel a couple hundo miles for one... so I'm gonna stick to those feisty slimers... for now!
