LOWRANCE ICE PACK
« on: Jan 19, 2016, 01:10 PM »
Was wondering if anyone has any experience with the Lowrance ice pack units. My dad currently has a new Elite 4HDI for his boat and I was looking into getting the ice pack kit for him. He always borrows my Marcum, and would be nice for him to have his own flasher unit. There isn't many reviews online for these within that last year or so. Was just curious what people thought of them that have used them or know anyone that likes theres. Was wondering if the is lag on the flasher or if its just like a lower end marcum or vexilar. Thanks

I do not know the answer; I have an Elite 5 and am interested.  By the way how have you been doing fishing; I was at E Bass Sat and did fairly well with bluegills from 4 to 56 and then they quit.  How is Lowes, sic?

I have the 4x with ice pack and love it, I've fished with Marcus and vexilars and would take my graph over anything but the top of the line flasher.

Does the flasher setting work good or just using the graph.

Flasher setting works but not near as good as a low end flasher, however after the graph works great, very sensitive no lag, and an overall better picture of what is going on in my opinion, like I said I'd prefer the graph to anything but say an lx7 or 9 or top end vex.  For 100$ for the pack you can't go wrong if you already have the graph blows the 300$ low end flashers out of the water in my opinion.

I have the Lowrance x67c ice machine and I love it. After having the graph feature to follow my jig I have no interest in flashers or flasher mode. Mine is 4 or 5 years old and has always worked flawlessly. I strongly recommend the ice pack!

Graph over flasher any day!!!  I also have the x67c.  People have said the graph is not "real time", not true.  It is as real time as any flasher on the market.

I have and Elite 4 and love it.  After using it for awhile I actually prefer the graph over any of the flashers I have fished with.  Flasher mode works ok but I do not prefer it nor do I ever use it.  Also nice to have the GPS on the unit to mark spots with dates you fished there and how you did.  Nice to have one unit for summer and winter fishing.

I have the elite 5 chirp and wouldn't waste my time with the outdated style flasher. The graph rocks!

I've been strongly considering another unit and have a couple humminbird flashers now and really want a sonar/gps unit.  How long does the battery last on these units?  Could a guy fish a couple of days, fishing most of the day on one charge?

I have fished for a whole weekend on my Elite 4 and never had to charge it once.  Just make sure that it has a full charge when you go out.  You can turn down the screen brightness and make them last for a long time.  I always run the battery down to nothing before I put a charge to it as well. Also for what its worth I have been running this unit for 4 years now and am still using the original battery.

Noam1700, I was wondering do you have the elite 4hdi? That's the unit my dad has. I bought the ice pack hoping it would for sure work of this unit. He has a red power cord not the blue. But description of product said it works on all elite units. Should be here tomorrow don't want to have to return it.

I have an elite 4 x I would prefer something with a GPS. However compared to a flasher I like it alot better. If the bite gets tough you can track back in time to see what triggered your last bite having the graph mode makes it much better imo. With a flasher the only memory you have on how the fish reacted is your head. My battery usually last around 6 hours with it on full brightness..but I have had it last up to 24 hours. For the cost of an extra battery I would say buy an extra you may never need it but who knows. Saturday I fished till 3:30 am put my charger on it at 11 am then was fishing again by 1 pm and fished untill 7 pm..if I had a spare battery the second outing I could have left one charge.

Thanks for all the input. I got it in the mail yesterday and gave it to my dad last night. He was pretty excited, we got it all hooked up and played with it a little in the house. Shipped pretty quick from www.saapni.com. I thought it was a sketchy site but it turned out to be legit. Paid $131.00 including shipping. Thanks again.
