Grate overall Weekend with friends and family!
« on: Feb 01, 2016, 09:54 PM »
The Weekend did not start off all that great.

In another auspicious start 40 min from home and 10 min from the lake my front right abs sensor failed which caused my brakes to lock up on their own!

Lucky for me this happened at a gas station.   Also lucky for me a friend of a friend showed up and offered to haul my trailer, my kids, myself and my gear out of his way for the next two days!  Paying it forward came home for me and my new friend, like a true ice fisherman payed it forward with out a second thought.  Unfortuantly I do not have photo evidence of this but it did happen!

Saturday was slow however Maeve did catch a slammer 14" perch that she entered into the IS derby.

Everyone including the kids had a good time fishing, and no one complained (too much) about not catching.

Day 2 brought less breakdowns and more fish.

This is my favorite picture with the kids slamming them on the jig!

The makings of a Sunday Night Fish Fry!

Day 2 included a nice 21.5" 4-3/4 lb Bass that was released by this proud fisherman!

Overall another great weekend of great times and great life lessons with friends and family!

Started off bad ended up good. Great pictures I like the one with Hawkeye and his devilish look. Did you get any bows? Almost tracked you down but I went for trout. Got to love those sensors just another thing that can break on a vehicle and cost us money. Wish I could buy my 1980 F150 again.

That is awesome, way to get the kids into it. They caught some nice fish. That last bass is huge, I see that on the cover of Hawkeye.

It was good time.

Hawkeye is really coming into his own this year.  He is running tipups by himself from setup to back in the basket at the end of the day as well as really getting the feel of jigging.  The big bass was caught by his cousin.  This was his first ice fishing trip, luckly the big bass came at the end of the day and not the beginning.

Is he still cooking breakfast?  ;D

His Sister cooked on Sat. before she caught that corker perch and I cooked on Sun. while he ran the traps.  He and his cousin were  chasing flags all over the place.  At one point I looked out and there were 4 traps on the ice and they were catching a 5th and then a short time later they were all back in and fishing.

Wow, nice! Looks like you had a grand time. Nice looking Polaris there.

It is a sweet little ride for the kids.  The best part is that he can pull it over himself!  An old timer had it for his fishing sled, a little elbow grease, new gas lines and a windshield and she was good to go!
