Fishing road trip from Saskatchewan
« on: Jan 08, 2016, 03:31 PM »
Okay trip stop number one will be of course Lake Winnipeg. What's the conditions like out there? Any ice?

Also looking for a lake that will produce some jumbo perch!? What should be my choice of lake, I remember reading an article last season about a good lake for jumbos. But can't remember.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

The ice angler is a different breed of fisherman. Undeterred by distance, daylight or degrees, these warriors go to extreme measures to chase down the fish attempting to wait out winter below the frozen surface. Through 10-inch holes positioned amidst miles of ice they engage the elusive walleye one-by-one, yeah it's crazy, and some may never understand it.

Ice is all over the place, thickness wise. Sleds or quads would give you the most flexibility. As for perch lakes, there are a few, mostly produce late in the season. I know at steep rock on lake Manitoba some good perch are being iced.
