Fun day on the ice

Jacksmelt & I hit the road to a remote lake. Jigged plenty of smelts, caught several togue, brookies and a few whitefish. Had the lake to ourselves was great to be out on the sleds again. Plenty of ice with a little slop on top. Kept a couple for the grill.  Sorry for the lack of pictures I was pretty busy breaking in the new Frabill  ;D

Seriously jealous!  Nice going getting out there. I hope to catch some smelt in a lake this season, even if it's just for bait.

I'm still at work wishing I could've went. I did get out locally though... couple salmon... couple trout.

we would have caught a lot more fish but they kept dragging the bait out a ways and either killing it or just dropping it. it was one of those off days. had over 20 flags. no bite marks on the dropped bait, so i think they were whitefish. had about 6in. of ice. had to bust a new trail in as our other access had a spring hole that opened up where we got on. was nice just to get on the sleds again. lots of snow in the woods. cold thats coming is going to build some good ice. be able to put on the shacks by next week.

4-5" all over. Gonna fish tue,wed,thur, long should be good to go after sun/mon's cold snap.

Great looking conditions for you two. It's going toi be a few more days on the small ponds before I venture out. Once you get tired of those monsters, it will be time to head South for some crappie & whites. :)  Where's Glen????
