Slow day at Otter Creek
« on: Dec 29, 2015, 09:42 AM »
Went down to Otter Creek Res. Yesterday the lake is capped with the ice at 6 to 8 inches where we were fishing just off the boat ramp in the park. Most of the snow has been blown off the ice. The fishing was slow for everyone but we were able to ice a couple of nice two to three lb fat Rainbows. I think the slow fishing was the result of the full moon for the last few nights. The fish we kept were full of small crayfish. We offered every thing we had in our tackle boxes to them but the only catches were with black jigs tipped with night crawler . A great day, cold but sunny. Had a great time trying out new Christmas toys.

Very nice Geezer, on the getting out not the catching. Sounds like maybe they got their x-mas fill on craws. With them eating those the meat in them bows should be a little sweeter. What new toys did you try out? Did that envelope make it to you?

Thanks Musky I did get the envelope, it will be posted this week on their bragging board. As for the new toys my kids and wife supplied me with enough gift cards from my birthday and Christmas to get a new flasher and a nice propane auger. Both worked great! By the way I was able to find those hat lights that we like so I picked up some extras, I'll save one for you.

I fished there the same day...it was the slowest day ever at Otter for me..Landed 5 fish..Monday before much different story as it was very good with fish to 4 lbs

My buddies fished a point north and landed 23 fish..Shrimp and a jig was the go to for them..

I'll be there this Saturday for redemption...Probably be a zoo on the ice though..
