Replacement battery help
« on: Dec 28, 2015, 08:22 PM »
Had a cranial rectal inversion and dumped the battery for my marcum camera down a hole.  Need a replacement.  Obviously I can buy the same battery, just wondering if someone has a suggestion for what they feel is a better battery? 12 volt 9 ah.  I live in the sticks so online purchase is a priority.

Thanks in advance

Here's a good place to begin looking, IceGunner.          Amazon.

( For what it's worth department:  Strap it to something larger than the ice hole.  lol    ;)2  )

When I read specs, the 12 v 7 amp battery is listed as "lighter and less expensive". Weight and 5-10 bucks savings aren't as important as longevity in years and hours on a charge.

It is a great link, thank you, it is where I will probably purchase, I have an Amazon prime account and use it often.  My question more specifically, does anyone have a specific brand, type ,model of battery, which they have used and they felt was superior to any other.  Sorry for the lack of gratitude for your link

Ice...
Most all sealed 12-V batteries are similar. A 9 amp will last longer so I would recommend it. If you deal with Amazon Prime they will stand behind the purchase no matter what brand it is. My 2 cents. Good Fishing!

I will say, as long as it's sealed and rechargeable, which most of those are, you'll be good for years, if you charge it up every 3 months.   That 18AH looks to be killer, with 2 1/2 times capacity, you could power lights, a seat heater, well, ha, just kidding.     ;)2
Good luck, IceGunner.

If you look at Marcum's site they sell a 10ah lithium battery that has way more capacity and charges quicker. I looked and found the same battery on Amazon for $100, which was $50 cheaper than Marcum's. I'm gonna give it a try.

If you read my initial post, or knew me very well, my tendency toward dumb @$$ attacks will prev not me from spending the money for an lithium battery, although it is probably the way to go in a few years when that technology is a little more competitive.

I agree with you on the Lithium-Ion batteries. Way overpriced and not too stable at the present time.

I would strongly recommend you check chrome battery.  I purchased a 12v 11amp for my bird last year for like 25 bucks.  You cant beat their prices.

Just make sure you measure your battery compartment to ensure a larger amp battery will fit.

Just got one to replace the 2x7ah batteries in the power box mounted in side my Frabill Recon - can't beat the price

Anything lower than 30 degrees cuts the battery capacity in half

Vexilar 1 Amp Digital Automatic Charger at $24.95

The V-410 is a fully automatic 1 amp digital charger. It also serves as a battery maintainer. After the charger bring the battery to a full charge, it automatically switches to a float mode. The battery is held at a full charge until you're ready to use it. The storage period is the most difficult part your batterys life. During this time, the battery can degrade, sulfate, and be unusable when you need it. Thats why you need to maintain the battery during storage periods. You could mark your calendar and charge your battery each month, or you could connect this Universal 12 Volt Automatic Charger and be assured that your battery will be ready to go when you are.

Features •Fully Automatic 3- Stage Charging
•1 Amp 12 Volt Output
•Digital Operation - No Heavy Transformer
•Will NOT Overcharge the Battery
•When Full, Maintains the Battery Charge
•Colored LEDs Indicate Charge Mode
•Connect it and Forget it
Specifications •12 Volt / 1 Amp DC Output
•100 - 240 Volt AC, 22 Watt Input 50/60 Hz
•Class 2 Battery Charger
•UL Approved
