ut-oh I think we're going to have a debate with a post like this. LOL it always comes down to the chevy vs. ford kind of thing. I myself have fished an Eagle 642igps that I also used in my boat and on my toon. The thing worked great and had a good ice mode once I figured it out. Pretty much all its used for now days is the lake maps when I'm looking around for some structure to fish. I picked up an LX-7 season before last and love it. Lots of different screen configurations to suit the user. Graph-flasher-troller by itself or multiple on the screen. Great zoom feature and gives you 1/2in target seperation. I can see the treble swinging on my pk spoons. I've only used it to 80ft but had no probs with the cone set to 8deg. Can upgrade to the 9 when I decide I want a camera and the newest firmware once a new release is out for long enough I feel they've de-bugged it successfully. Now I only use this unit for ice specifically but they do sell an open water transducer for it. Sorry not the units you were asking about but you did say other recommends. Look thru the electronics section here tons of information on all sonars

Great close out deals going now if you can find them. Good luck

I hear ya the debate thing. You can delete this post if its going to cause a problem. You are correct I did say other recommends I'm looking into the LX-7.
If I have Questions about the LX-7 can I PM you?
