Posted: Dec 27, 2015 3:00 PM MST Chippewa County (WQOW) - The Chippewa County Sheriff's Office said the two men who fell into icy waters Sunday were pronounced dead at an area hospital. According to a press release from the sheriff's office, the victims were a 33-year-old man from Bloomer and a 76-year-old man from Chippewa Falls. The sheriff's department said one of the men was fully submerged and trapped under the ice. The second man was partially in the water. Rescue crews tried CPR on both victims, and both were transported by ambulance to area hospitals. The sheriff's department said they are still investigating the incident. The department advises everyone to be cautious on the water because of unseasonably warm weather. ----------------------------------Chippewa County (WQOW) - Search and rescue crews were called to a lake in Chippewa County Sunday afternoon after two men fell through the ice. That's according to the Chippewa County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff Jim Kowalczyk told News 18 the incident happened on the Glen Loch Lake, near the Ojibwa Golf Course. The sheriff's department said the two men were ice fishing when they fell into the water. A neighbor called for help just after 2:30 p.m.Kowalczyk said the two males were pulled from the water by rescue crews and were transported to area hospitals. Their conditions are unknown.Mayo One (an emergency medical helicopter service), Chippewa Fire District Dive and Rescue, Eagle Point Fire and Rescue, Chippewa Falls Fire and Rescue, and the Chippewa County Sheriff's Office responded. No other details have been released.
