Frabill 371 reel, need explination
« on: Dec 10, 2015, 12:23 PM »
Got me new reel and cant figure out what the red knob next to the clicker switch is.  Can anyone lend some insight?  Also when spooling this reel has anyone tied of to the windows in the spool?

Hello Friend......   Just goin by the picture I believe it would be the control for how fast it free spools. Turn knob all way both ways and see if free spool changes?  Just my guess!  Nice lookin reel please report how you like it?  Stay safe....O.P.

It is the spool tension knob.  Its the braking mechanism to prevent line overrun.

Thanks all.  I couldn't get any perceivable change on the bench but maybe in the wild it will make a difference.   Im looking forward to finding some ice and testing it out.  Im mounting it to a noodle rod for bluegill fishing....cant wait.

tie a jig to the line, push the free spool button, adjust the fall rate of the jig with that tension control. if it doesn't work smoothly add a light dab of oil/grease to the face of the spool brake
