Tobin Lake Fishing Trip Help
« on: Dec 08, 2015, 02:02 PM »
I was hoping for some help as I am planning a fishing trip for a buddies stag party. We would need accommodation for about 15 and looking for ice shack rentals as well.  I have found Prudens Point and Tobin Lake resort on the internet.  Not familiar with the area or services offered.  Any info would be greatly appreciated.

you want to be close to the bar.  it is usually a good time and if you are on a stag, that will be where you want to end your night.

Awesome advice thanks everyone.  We are planning later end of January.  Any advice for fishing.  Best tipup baits? General area?

For pike it seems most folks fish what is know as "the flats", it's the big part of the lake they usually drive out a few kms out. You can pike up the odd walleye out there also.
For the pike most folks go big at Tobin. They use commercially frozen tullibee / ciscos, herring, or club mackerel, generally the biggest you can find.

Walleye anglers often go to the sunken islands and the deeper river channel. The genera area is a bit NE from Tobin Lake Lodge.
Chat with the lodge owners for more current info too. :)

Hope your trip turns out great. I'm a bit behind but I have to give a shout out to chuck at prudens point. He has cabins and shacks for rent. The accommodations are nice and he plows a road out on the ice for the locals which helps a lot! Give him a shout sometime.

I did a stag at Tobin Lake resort last December when it was -38 with a group of 7, it was amazing. As for the girls at the hotel bar being easy on the eyes.. parts of them were. They are really friendly no doubt.

I be never done any fishing on Tobin. Sounds like the shacks are going to be on the flats for Pike and one at another area for walleye. I've got the tip ups for pike but is there any walleye tricks guys are willing to help out with?  Secret lures preferably, secret spots, optimum times, stuff like that lol
