Red Lake slot limit change..
« on: Nov 16, 2015, 08:18 PM »
Just saw this on JR's page...
http://www.redlakeaccess.com/jr_report.htm

Starting the beginning of the year you can take 3 fish instead of two.... 2 under 17" and 1 over 17"

I seen that. Will be nice to keep one over 17in. I wonder if the Mille Lacs lake mess caused them to change the way the slot was being managed.

Is it just me or should I find it weird that they moved a topic about red lake which is in northern Minnesota to the South Dakota area.

Yep, pretty sure that was an oopsie!

Either way, I'm pretty pumped about this.  I think it's a smart idea to keep some of the bigger walleyes at bay.  They've got to be harder on the youngsters than any group of anglers could be.

With the forecast this week finally turning around, I'm hoping be up there a week and a half after Thanksgiving!

I think the resorts will be happy with this change! Not that keeping one more fish is the difference between going fishing or not, but it will be nice! That fishery is very healthy, I'm sure it can handle it!

Dec 10 is a bit early. I know JR's was talking ice 4-5in out about 1/2 mile and was letting foot traffic/portables out on Sunday. If you want to do a sleeper shack, I'd try pushing back the red 10 date to the 17

Chit that sucks. Looks like Dec 16-18 trip might have to get scratched. Don't want to drive 9hrs and not get in a sleeper shack on the ice.
