Ideas on where to put shack next year?
« on: Feb 20, 2015, 03:59 AM »
Between newport and bangor, hopefully somewhere that has a road out on to the ice. My shack is on wheels. Maybe a place that has more then one plow guy!! Got old plowing hermon all year! Took 5 years off my old trucks already old life!! Maybe round pond in plymouth. Got several guys with shacks up there with plows?

Doesn't seem like your interested in really fishing so why not just leave it in the yard?

I agree! Why do so many people bash the guys with hard sides, is it a crime to like to relax and stay warm when you fish?

Working on and building a hard side is a good way to enjoy the sport in the off season, and a great place to store your gear.

Keeps the kids warm too! Hard side fisherman can actually catch fish too! Not just party out there.

Just my 2 cents

I agree and the best part is the wardens can't count how many beers you drink, plus you can stay in the hard side if you had a few too many ;)

I put another $1,000 in mine this year and it should be very comfortable to live in for a few days. But with the current conditions I have not put it out. :-\ With the snow, slush and cold keeping a shack tended can be a nightmare

I am going to put mine on my front lawn for sale, come next fall.  It is in a location
that is unattainable by me right now.  So when I can finally get to it to move.  That
will be the last time I deal with a shack.

Maybe you should consider a portable pop up shack, tracking and putting a plow on your side-by-side buggy.

NO BUDDY’S GONNA PLOW LIKE YOU HAVE, RON.

Maybe Unity is not that bad a choice. I’ve seen other’s plowing off from that landing. Haven’t looked lately though. Pretty easy chance off and on.

I know what you said about that one pond....

I don't get all the road fuss. I mean it sounds nice but 99% of lakes don't have a plowed road and it doesn't bother 99% of fishermen

The people that fish Hermon REALLY appreciate the plowed road. A lot of folks that might have a hard time getting on the ice, like walkers, older folks and kids benefit tremendously. Especially in a winter like this, the road has been much appreciated, BUT Snopro gets little of it and catches flack. Thanks for keeping the road open, Ron!  ;D   :icefish:

What mess? A clean wide road for all to use, get shacks in and out ....get the kids on the ice easily.... What mess?

Wider skis and more flotation incorporated in out shacks .Less plowing which just encourages cars and trucks into a trap later in the season.
