Indian Hill??
« on: Dec 04, 2015, 07:08 AM »
Hi All,

Is Indian Hill still making ice fishing gear?  Can't seem to find them on the web anymore.

I was looking to give myself a nice Christmas present (or 5!) this year.

Cheers....

Gusman

The fishing was good; it was the catching that was bad.

You don't need facebook to look at someone else's facebook page. I don't facebook & the Indian Hill facebook page works just fine when I look at it.

I just checked it out. What makes them so special that they sell for $160 a piece? I obviously never seen one in person, and was just wondering.

I just went back to the link you posted and reread the October 23 post. It was $30 off on a set, which he had 4 left over. So it's originally around $190 for a set. Is that 5 tip ups?

From what little I have read on this site, people like them, but I'll have to read in depth more tonight.

Do you like yours more than any other manufacturer out there?

Better off getting a set of Heritage lakers....much cheaper (can get them on sale for around 20 bucks a piece), and better quality!

The Heratige Lakers were $39 today at Cabellas, vs about $35 for the Indian Hills. Both great tip-ups but I like to support the local guys whenever possible.

Chris you won't be dissappointed. I own 3 sets of 5 and a full set of a mix between the Nor'easter and the NE78. Great tilt made locally with the finest quality.

The Indian Hills are all stainless hardware. The spool is powder coated aluminum. Uses a wing nut and spring for drag when u have large bait on. He will stain them pretty much any color you want. Also have various flag colors and can water seal them too.

They are hand made by a local guy right here in MA from Worcester. Hes a member of these forums (Powow). I dont think I have ever heard, read , or seen any negative feedback. And if u by chance have an issue, Mike will fix it for you quick. In fact i recall a few times he was sending people replacement flags for free cause they lost theirs.

Their quality is unmatched by any other manufacturer I have seen.

I own both Indian hills and heritage Lakers. Both nice traps. IH are a touch above. $20 Lakers dont come stained and the wood swells so bad you can't tighten/loosen hardware

One last question guys, are they setup so you can not set the flag wrong?

Why I say that is when I first started out I had that sort of design. I forgot how, but there is a way that you can set it wrong if you don't test it first, and the flag can't trip. You know how it goes, sometimes your running around with flags popping non stop and it happens or you let someone else grab a flag and they reset it wrong. I switched to the polar HT and that is impossible to do, and windless.

If what I'm writing seems confusing, you kind of had to have both styles I have to follow what I'm saying.

Still trying to find the Indian Hill web site. Message indicates page not available. The face book link in a previous post brings me to a face book log in page. Not doing face book.  How can I view the Indian Hill product line and place an order??  Thank You
