Bass
« on: Dec 01, 2015, 11:10 AM »
Since the DNR made C&R bass season open all year here in MI I was wondering how many people are going to try targeting them? I know the past few seasons I have been catching them but mainly when targeting crappies and bluegills. I just know that this year if I happen to find an area where all I'm catching is bass and that is the only fish that is biting I won't be leaving that area.

I catch a few on tip ups but don't target them. I'm not a big fan of eating bass so ill stick to the panfish/walleye/pike as my target species.

Nothing has changed really has it? Any and all fish caught out of season must be immediately released and in years past any bass after new years day had to be promptly returned at least shortly after a quick photo for the ice shanty tourney ;)
I have a BS in Narrative Fishing History.

I'll stick with bluegill. Bite is more steady and they're a riot to catch through the ice!
I'd rather be fishing!

I fish this one lake and it seems like everytime the bluegill bite goes dead there's a LM bass in the area.
