nice idea fish-kabob, I like the clip on idea! I'll have to make a few of these but I hate to ruin a good sounder so I'll have to dig up a few big alligator clips or something.

maddog, good idea, you didn't steal the Mrs' toothbrush for it didja!? ;D ;D ;D

I learned not to cut apart my wife's metal hangers a long time ago. That is one thing that is not worth arguing about.   I use metal banding at work. I use a cutting wheel and grinder to shape it into a long narrow shaft with the notched end. Works great, as I am sure the coat hanger does
Every plastics manufacturer claims plastics outfish livebait. So now I use livebait just for the increased challenge.

nice thing about your it floats the other things is you put it in one of you many pockets you lose it.. that why I liked the clips cause you can clip it on a shirt or coat collar  but that tooth brush is a great idea none the less...

Looking good fellas..

I posted this one last season I think...

I run some really tiny jigs sometimes, sizes 16, and 18 even...

The little guys are able to inhale the jig pretty deep and their tiny mouths are hard to work with..

I quickly got tired of hurting them, trying to get my jig back so I came up with this idea...

The loop can go on your pinky so your other fingers are free..

Its the perfect size to get into tiny sunfish mouths to back the hook out, even better if you fish barbless..

The tube keeps the zip tie from closing too far, its just a piece cut from a ball point pen..

Its good for the little guys, and the faster you get the hook out, the faster you get the hook in!!

I got one of those picks a year or ago at an ice show. IMO it was money well spent. it floats, has a nice finger grip, and can be clipped onto a guy's lanyard so there are benefits. Making your own stuff is cool though. I do make a lot of stuff myself like a glow charging dip cup on my vex, jigs, and  dropper chains.

A guy I know had something similar to what you have, had it around his neck, stepped over boat seat, tripped, and stabbed himself in neck area, bled like a stuck hog, no longer has it attached to himself, so be careful!!
