My new Smitty sled
« on: Oct 06, 2015, 09:01 AM »
One more coat of stain and 2 coats of poly but here it is. Left the cross pieces longer with glued dowels so I could put auger or shanty there.Maybe I should have put the 2 back braces further back??? First try at this but learned a lot. I am still going to try to put something on back to try to push instead of just pull rope if anyone has suggestions.

an auger off to side may cause the sled to tip if weight of sled is less.

it'll work, but it will be a bit heavy to that side. It won't mean much until you go through some heavy snow or gotta pull the whole thing over a big snow embankment. You'll make it work I'm sure ;)

That could be a bear pulling through some deep snow with it being off balance . You could after you test it and it not proper.. is just move the ski out keeping all the same diamensions . Looks nice

Moving the ski out may make that side sink in deeper as well. Making the whole sled pull on an angle.
He will probably see this issue regardless of of there there ski is with the auger off to the side.

Depending on the lip on your jet sled you may be able to do something like i did with my box when i had my ion. They unscrew when not needed. Just put one in the middle of the front lip, and one n the middle of the back lip.

The fishing was good; it was the catching that was bad.

just move the crossbars over so its all centered, if you use the same gearall of the time.
looks nice!

skies are supposed to have a foot in the center of them. so keeping the raisers as close to that section is best. best would be to make a "Y" shaped raiser that mounts to where our feet would be. that is where it has the most support to offset the weight load.
