Clam yukon x thermal
« on: Dec 29, 2015, 12:36 PM »
Looking around at new shacks but it seems like the local stores do not have a display model of the yukon x thermal.  I've been spending alot of time comparing shacks online but i one unanswered question... Does the thermal x yukon have velcro/removeable windows?  I like to have an occasional cigar and like the windows that open completely.

I'm pretty sure that all clam model shelters have the windows sewn in. I believe the otters are also sewn in. Frabill, Eskimo, and Shappell use velcro windows. Frabill and Eskimo make thermal and non thermal shanties. Shappell only makes non thermal.

All windows on Clam houses are sewn in and are not removable. the only difference over a regular Yukon is the fact that it is now full thermal and that is why the name has been changed to Yukon Thermal X. the size of the house has not change so if you are familiar with the regular Yukon you know what it is like size wise.

My older Yukon has windows that open with a black mesh cloth over them, plus you can zip down the back door all you want.

They are sewn in for sure.  I have a Yukon thermal TC and they are sewn in place.  When I have a cigar in there I usually open the fresh air vents at the top of the canvas on both sides and just crack the top of the back and front doors and usually its enough to vent the smoke.
