Is it just me!?
« on: Mar 14, 2015, 03:51 PM »
The last month-ish in the Peace Region has been sooooo slow. What's your record for skunked trips in a row? I don't even want to mention how many fishless trips I'm working on right now... a clue is 3 lakes multiple times and a river before run off :P

Yesterday the river was in full run off. Muddy muddy. Still 20" of ice on some of the lakes. 90km wind warning. See what happens.

I will say, my camp out lastnight - on shore! was grrreat. Slept like a baby. After fishing 6 hours this morning I threw my hands in the air and decided I'll go home to treat my youngest to a trip to the indoor pool... and if I can remember what a trout looks like I'll buy her some from the butcher ;) :cookoo:

I welcome any suggestions you all have to help me break my streak!

Ooberfish,   Did you happen to save any eggs from female trout you already caught? Take spawnee sac material or white nylon mesh from craft store.. cut a piece 3"x3" place a spoonfull of eggs in center fold up sides and tie at top with some old mono. tie up lots of sacs as many eggs as you have.  Rod/reel 7-10 ' reel with good drag.    Set a bobberstop at  the depth of river you are fishing add slip bobber below 3 bb shots then hook with eggsac. drift along current breaks and eddies. The spring fishing for trout on any river anywhere this can be very deadly on Trout.  If you have no eggs use a small 1/32 oz black jig[minifoo] with maggots or spikes till you catch a female with eggs . Then open her up and use the eggs in sacs.  Sacs about the size of a dime[usa] work the best. Casting spoons like Daredevil,Kastmaster, Hustler, Eels, Super duper, when cast in current ,hold rod high ,let lure sweep downstream All of these will work.  Tightlines ;D
10% of the fisherman catch 90% of the fish .....im a 10% are you?

Fortunate for the fish but unfortunate for me; there is a year round bait ban in all streams in the Peace Region.

Weird the way that happens.  Went for a week without a bite and went back 2 weeks later and caught almost 30 fish from the same point on the lake.
My lakes are getting soft in the white ice.  Haven't drilled any new holes to see the depth of the black ice below lately.
Cool part is the lake I live on is full of squaw fish so it is easy to bring a smile to my face.  Catching eagle food.
Wishing I was Fishing.

Better late to the party than to not even make an appearance....lol  Just wanted to mention that back in 2014 , my buds and I were getting skunked day after day on our go to lake...... The actual # of fishless days had to be at a dozen in a row !!!  It was pretty sad to say the least. To break the streak we ventured to a much smaller lake not far away.  This little lake always surprised us with usually good #s and an occasional BIG one. It didn't disappoint ..... ;D  ps. halfway to hardwater !!!   :woot:
