Fished from 11:30 to 7:00 on Tuesday, Had a decent day with 9 smallies most around 2lbs a couple smaller 12''-13'' and my best one at 2.5lbs. Also got 4 nice perch between 11'' and 12'' and of course some gills. They were still out deep not all that close to spawning areas and i got them on a lindy rattling flyer spoon tipped with wax worms.
Went after largemouth on Wednesday, started at my usual spot that's been producing all winter and only got one 14'' larry and a few small perch after about an hour of fishing the spot. Than a guy showed up and he only had a hand auger so i punched him some holes just behind where i was fishing out deeper and he caught a bass and some better size perch right away and kept hooking into bass but they were getting off. So after about another hour of nothing much except one good size fish that got off i decided to pop some holes out deeper next to the Guy seems how he kept pulling up nice size perch and a few more bass. Right away i caught a bass and in the next hour managed about 6 more, nothing big, one small 12'' and the rest were 14''-15'' also got about a half dozen perch between 10''-13''. The bite died down after the first hour i moved out deep than i fished about another 45 min but wasn't getting bit so i called it a day around 5:00. Got all a few on the lindy rattling flyer spoon with wax worms and a few on a finesse soft plastic worm on a jig head. The guy i was with was getting them on a rapala jigging rap with no bait, i was pretty surprised how well he was doing with that thing.
