This link is great.  Thanks a lot for posting.  It does update pretty quick.  Saves a lot of guess work and needless driving around.

It could mean that, or just as likely there are a lot fewer people up north that are members of the VLMP that do volunteer lake monitoring. Medium and small sized ponds don't always have a monitor. 
In another week or so it will be much more apparent which is the case because we have some nice warm weather on the way and the ice is doomed everywhere.  :)

Moosehead is a good indicator because there are surely some volunteers that watch that lake closely and will report it on this site.   The stars on the map are getting added every day at a faster rate and moving north.

Beaver Cove in Moosehead just went out on Sunday the 3rd. 
Not sure if the rest of the lake is ice free yet....
