New to Tip Ups
« on: Feb 02, 2016, 06:37 PM »
Hello I am new to using tip ups more so when using them with live bait.  In terms of rigging them up for pike and walleye do most people use quick strike rigs?  What are peoples technique for rigging them up?  Anyone use multiple shiners on the trebles?

I have used quick strike rigs since I first saw them in an In-Fisherman magazine many years ago. I make my own out of sevenstrand wire and #8 or 10 trebles. I make them a couple of feet long and connect then directly to the tip up line using a swivel.
I use one of the weights with a clip on it to determine where the bottom is and how high above the bottom I want the bait. I use the tiny bobbers to mark just below the waterline so I can return the bait to the same place.

Do a search on the as you will find many different ways of doing the same thing. Try different things until you find something you have confidence in.
