Safe ice? Follow-up
« on: Mar 04, 2015, 08:48 AM »
I have Friday off and would like to get on the ice. Is there any reason lakes that had 8 to 10 inch's of ice last week would have issues now after the heavy rain. Would like to either go to summit or up north. Just a rookie wanting to get out. Thanks!

Ice is still plenty thick…for now. Plan to head out this weekend as well. Good luck

I bet you can't find a lake up North with 8-10, most have 20-24".

Ended up at Salamonie. Roughly 16" of ice and a whole bunch of dinks. Lot of stubborn fish that would look at the bait then swim away. First time ever on this lake, we fished 10 and 20FOW. No one else out there which was surprising. It was a long day for 0 keepers. Still fun but wondering if anyone has had success there lately?

By the boat ramp of Dora. We were actually in about 18' at one time. We moved several times and fished for about 9hrs. I guess you just have those days but to go all day without one keeper???Sheesh! We must really stink...Ha.

Figured you were down towards the dam. Most fish from st rd 105 or back in pirates cove.

Is there parking around the 105 bridge Curt? Im not against driving around and trying to find the spots myself, but like I said I know nothing about Salamonie.

Yep.  Most guys park on the south side of the bridge and walk down the hill. It is a brute coming back up the hill though.
