Androscoggin in Auburn
« on: Mar 01, 2015, 06:11 PM »
Any one ever fish the andro right behind the damn off center street?  I've been thinking of trying it for the last couple years but just curious if it was worth the try

Lots of small mouth and once in a while you get a pike. Also heard that there are some nice crappie on that section. I have only fished it a few times during open water.

Couldn't really give you specifics, Last time I went the water was really low and with sun being bright and high you could see the bottom quite frequently. There where a couple deeper spots that where 10 -12+ feet (estimating).

Well, trying it out right now. Drops off fast!  75' from shore 40' deep. Marking no fish shallow or deep. Traps from 5fow to 40 and jigging. Wierd currents here and there. Plenty of ice

There was 2' of ice everywhere we drilled and 6-10 inches of snow.  Easy going.  Out deep there was a bit of a downstream current, in near shore an upstream current.  Just enough to make it hard to jig in the current.  We fished about 4 hours.  No flags and didn't mark anything so we went somewhere else to jig for a bit.  Got out on location #2 and the wind was blowing so hard you could barely see the vex through the blowing snow!  We marked a couple fish but no luck and gave up after an hour.  2 back to back skunks!  Oh, fun day on the ice either way

40ft wow! Never would have guessed that fishing there this summer. Surprised you didn't get anything, lots of smaller small mouth there with an occasional 3-5 ponder thrown in.

We couldn't believe it either. We thought the vex was wrong at first!

We fished one of the coves up from there a few years back and thought the same thing, had to put another flasher in to make sure.
