Magog snow and Ice depth
« on: Mar 05, 2015, 09:04 AM »
I haven't been out to the twins since late January.  Would greatly appreciate any new info about Eagle Point, Bean Bay, or even South Bay.  I want to bring my little guys out and wondering about the snow and if the ice is super deep?

Really appreciate it and please feel free to PM me if that works better for you.

I went out of strawberry sorry not the access you mentioned. There are 4 well made roads leaving
strawberry and forget about driving off the plowed road. I found close to 30 inches of ice
Sunday with deep crud snow (you will get stuck). I suspect Magog, north/south, twins, everywhere
else has similar conditions.

I was out there myself this morning. Decent bite, and the snow really isn't too bad for walking, but probably not driveable other than the plowed road (I was up in Holbrook Bay). Ice was definitely pushing 30". Managed to drill 2 8" holes by hand, but I think I'm done up there until next season - or at least until someone else is punching the holes.

Fished yesterday and accessed the West shore Via Strawberry Acres.  Headed on the road north to Bean Bay.  There was a water spot about 12" deep for about 100yds in the morning.  On the way home it was a different story.  It looked like another road was plowed next to the wet spot and by the time we headed out around 4 the road was a river of water almost 2' deep.  Only about 150 yds long but a bit unnerving to say the least.  Truck driving is only working on the plowed roads.  Fished mid lake south of Bean Bay and out toward the twins.  Perch bite was below average with no huge fish caught.  Nothing for Trout or Salmon.

Has anyone gone out from the access near Eagle Point lately?  We're hoping to fish the Twins this coming weekend.  What are the conditions?

I fished last Saturday and set up not too far from the twins but closer to the Western shore.  I usually access from Eagle Point but decided to use the road from Strawberry acres.  The road out was very wet on the way home, pretty much a river.  On the ice there was a soft 6" deep snow to 2' crusty drifts.  We ended up parking about 100yds off of the plowed road.  From what I could see there wasn't too much activity over that way.  I'd just be guessing that they may be accessing from here but it could be very wet and only a road or two?  Walking out maybe what you could expect or maybe consider fishing South bay or Strawberry Acres where the access is close to the fishing?

Hope this helps!
