What's the rule for name on tip ups
« on: Jan 22, 2016, 07:51 AM »
Maybe a dumb question but what is the Michigan rule for having name on tip ups? Is it a must or? Because have not put my name on any of them.

BUT - does not have to be your name/address.  I can take a friend ice fishing and have my name on ALL the tipups.  This is direct from the local DNR officer here in the Kzoo/Allegan co. area.

Name and address has to be there. I've learned that printing from the computer is very easy for the officer to read and I use enough scotch tape that it's all covered, can't smear, and it's waterproof.

Use duct tape, put name on in marker, waterproof, and can easily be switched out, just cut it off and put another piece around and write name on it!!

If you have more than 1 person fishing with your tipups, you had better discuss which person is responsible for what tipups, or technically the dnr officer could write a ticket for too many lines to the person with the names on the tipups

x2 on who's using the tip up. Three lines per person. My tipups have plastic flags, and I use a sharpie and write my name and address on each flag.
