Guts go down the hole.

In MI. if the DNR sees that your fish are gutted and you don't have the guts on hand to show them.. BUSTED!

Yet another example of different rules in different States.  Always interesting.  I wonder sometimes what's based on science and what comes from other considerations, like public opinion.  The Regional Fisheries Biologist for my region (Idaho Fish and Game Employee) says guts are good for the ecosystem.  So I'm encouraged to do it, and for you it's illegal!

Now that's funny.  There are apparently some folks in Utah who have floated that as a real option for dealing with the tons of carp they are removing from Utah Lake:

“You grind the carp up, and the enzymes in the fish will actually digest the fish. Once they’re liquefied you can do a number of things with them.” The carp could be used as fertilizer, a base for a trout diet, or a pet food ingredient. Mills says this would work great for the program; so far, no investors have stepped forward to build a facility for liquefying the carp. For now the carp feed mink on a farm near Payson, Utah."

I used to bury them in the garden, but something would always dig them up,,,,then the dog would come in smelling like,,,,well you know....so sometimes I though them out for the critters...outside the electric dog fence....and sometimes I just throw them away.....but that bass o matic....hmmmmm

In the winter I take the carcasses out and dump them just off the yard in the edge of the brush lot and the crows, possoms, coons, and everything else that's d@mn hungry this time of year makes short work of them. Summertime I take them down and dump them near the creek bank 120 yds. from the house so they don't stink and it's the same story. I've checked on them a day or so later and all I ever find is a spattering of scales.

Give your son a fish, and he will eat for a day.....teach your son to fish and eventually he'll end up kicking your @ss every time you fish together!!!
