Fished The Slough Tuesday
« on: Feb 11, 2015, 07:51 AM »
My buddy and I got on the Slough at 1:00pm Tuesday. All snow melted off, good hard 8"- 10" of ice. Slicker than snot!
Fished just east of big island up front. Was a pod of guys south of the buoy not far from where we were. Probably 30 guys total on south end. Only a few in heavy weeds.
Saw zero fish caught, not saying there weren't some?
My buddy and I each caught 1 gill and lost 3 in a 5 minute time span at 5:15pm. The one I caught was 10 1/4". We fished until dark, 6:00pm.
I'd say the bite was not on!!!

I was down there on monday and it was slow, until i found a jig/color combo the last 10 minutes of the bite. Chased walleye yesterday and it was slow for them also.

See what tomorrow does with a little front coming through.

May hit later this week, thanks for the info?  Is Morman Hill entrance opened back up yet?  Haven't been up there in a few weeks.

Two friends were there this past weekend sat/sun. 180 total ...only kept their limits both days. Parked at patrol road and walked a long trek to Mormon hill.

Yes, you can fish after dark. Every once in a while coming off the lake you see a few guys staying out, never hear of how they do. There was a 5-7 day stretch before the big snow storm a good group of guys were staying late, the warden was going out checking them a few days back to back. Do i have confirmation what was going on.. no. Once can only guess what it was about though. ;)

Slow this evening.. was slow on monday evening also. Idk if the fish have turned to a morning feed pattern or what but havent heard or seen much last few evenings out there. Tonight all fish were caught on a different color and style, used 10 different jigs, xatch one.. then the next fish snub his nose at it.

Addition to my earlier post. The golden hour before sunset and they stayed into the dark and then some. Anything under 8 they threw back. Stealth and away from the crowd is their trick. No gas auger, keep still - the fish are right under your feet so it makes sense. He said anytime someone would walk over to them to talk the bite would shut off during when the sun was up.

In addition to my post earlier... I was the only one on the ice up front yesterday evening. (Basically). One guy our there, left when i arrived, 2 p.m. another guy came out at 4 bit stayed well away from me, so i wasnt near any crowd. Anyways, fished all over the water column, fished all different colors, different style jigs.. fish were stuck in the mud and didnt want to chase.. as mentioned earlier. This has been the pattern the last few times out there. (Maybe a morning bite?)

Parking is good at head quarters or Mormon hill if open. Most fishing is 4feet of water.Good luck. 300 till dark is best
