snow = slush?
« on: Feb 03, 2015, 10:21 AM »
Looking for reports from folks who get out today or have been out in the snow... lots of slush or did the wind blow the ice clean? How's it holding up?

Thanks  @)

I made it out Sunday.  Little Ossipee in Waterboro had a lot more snow than I expected.  Kinda thought (or hoped) that the wind might have blown a lot clear, but not so.  A bit of slush underneath, but not horrible.  Maybe a few inches.  But then, I'm sure that varies from spot to spot.

Fished a larger lake sunday in southern ME, no slush good traveling for a sled.  I'm sure a lot of lakes are a mess though.

What happens if you shovel the snow/slush off say a 12X12 section of ice before a cold night?

 I have Friday off and my friends are driving up from NH on Friday night to do some fishing this weekend, so I was thinking of clearing a couple of spots. I'm sure the water would still push up out of the holes because of the snow's weight. Maybe do a donut pattern with a mound of icy slush in the middle and hope you make an "island"? Anyone have a better trick for dealing with the slush?

Took my sled out to check on my shack. It was like being on the ocean with a jet-ski. Drifts up to 4' near the shack but bare ice under it and 3' around it. Did not fish but had fun on the snow drift's.
