St Albans Bay
« on: Jan 24, 2015, 05:58 PM »
Hey everyone,

I was up by Ball Island today and caught one decent Yellow perch and maybe 30- 40, 6 inches probably about 50-60 people out over the bay,,  Really nice day.    Where I was the ice was damned close to 10 inches thick. I hope everyone else had a great time also today..  Brian

Have the Whites moved into the bay yet? I have never caught white perch through the ice and I  would love to catch a bucket full of these guys when they move in.
Perch bait- a small minnow that can have big results in the ice fishing game.  :icefish:

How do you access Lapans? I've never fished up that way until recently and wanted to try some new places.

There is no parking for lapans bay, got to find a place you can drive and park on the ice.
My passion for fishing and hunting, I owe to my Father and Uncle Art. RIP Art Rye, I will cherish all the days on the hard water we spent together and all the days in the woods. Miss you...

When me and smelty were out we fished right along the pressure crack, set tips about 20 foot from it in a straight line from shore out about 400 yds into the bay. there were a couple of flags that we couldnt keep in the water, so my guess is that there is some sort of structure where we had set. But we really set on a whim when we got out and found that we couldnt get where we wanted to go due to the crack.

Are burbot common in Lapan? That would be neat to try fishing for them there instead of driving all the way to the NEK.

there are parts of the crack that are prob 10-15 feet of open water. Not a crack even worth trying to cross!
