dock in Crown point
« on: Jan 23, 2015, 05:44 AM »
Anyone ever ice fish around the big concrete dock off the state park in Crown Point? Took my grandson over there in the summer and we had a ball with sunnies and a few perch. Is the ice around the dock safe or does it not freeze tight due to the dock?

be very careful close to the dock since its very unpredictable but i have fished there several times each winter. fishing is okay through the ice there but much better in the summer. i guess its what your fishing for. good spot for lakers in the winter and a hit or miss for pan fish. when i fish there i stay away from the pier and set my tip ups approx 25 yards away from the pier. beware though that area from the champlain bridge to the pier can be treacherous due to the fast moving currants. have a safe ice day.

Doesn't scare me. I grew up fishing there. Perfectly safe
