Looking to try a new spot
« on: Jan 20, 2015, 11:59 AM »
I want to try a new spot this weekend just not sure where.  I hear Mt Tom can be really slow fishing so I was thinking Tyler, highland, waramaug, maybe Winchester. anyone have any thoughts.

It would help if you listed your location!!!!
A bad day of ice fishing is better than any day at work!

Never fished Mt Tom but I know a guy that likes it for trout. I used to do well on Tyler for perch. Highland can be good for bass and pickerel if you can find the spot.

Was just at tyler the other day and caught 20 perch a pickerel and crappie and a trout. Ice never gone to tyler and not catch at least 10 fish or more. Winchester can but a good place to fish also if you can get to the right spot

now that we cant get on white oaks cove, the best place to fish in ct. {in my opinion} wethersfield cove. lots of fishermen though. worth the drive no matter where you live in ct.

me two. fished it for many years. moved to florida in 1992. came back to ct. two years ago. bought bait, and went, only to find out we cant go there anymore. tried to join the club, but i dont live in wethersfield. all because a kid fell out of a tree, and his parents sued over a broken arm. wish i was still in the 1950s again. this society sure is different.

You live in new britian-just go to crescent sometime-its' good fishing- went w/ my two cousins today: a bass some perch-do better close then far a lot of times; but if you're itching to go far-waramaug off the state park in about 12-15' of water produces consistent; if not big largemouth-and there's pickerel and trout in there-stay deeper then 10'-look at the map and you'll see flags.-good luck.

Coventry is almost always fun, your very likely to nab a few perch and Wally shorts. It's got good bass, some pickerel, crappies and an odd trout may surprise you. This time of year there's access from both the east (state launch)  and west (lisicke beach) sides of the lake. But like PapaSly said it'd help if we knew where you heading from.

Looks like its going to be west hill probably the south end across from the park.  Maybe catch one of those hogs!!  I read on a different post someone was using night crawlers on the tip ups anyone ever try that?

I never catch fish on Mt Tom in the winter
If you can't play nice, get off the ice!
